The Design Perspective
Roller shades are a more cost effective solution. They can be ordered in different types of fabrics or vinyl depending on the style that you are looking for. I have used them in formal settings like dining areas or living rooms or in play rooms and offices. It all depends on what fabric or vinyl material you use. They are a very functional practical solution.

The Function & Installation Perspective
This is a simple product most often used as a backdrop to curtains, sheers or another type of inner window covering. They work great for adding privacy at night if used behind a drapery but on their own would not do well since they usually have large side gaps. This is due to the fact that since these type of shades generally like to track a little to one side or the other it is made much thinner in width than the window opening so it doesn't rub the sides.
Although installation is as simple as two small screws in each end bracket you will need to be sure that they are both level. If not, then the shade will track to one side. Our premium clutch lift mechanism comes standard and works much better than the spring roller type.
